Amadpur Rajbari - A weekend trip from Kolkata
Last weekend we took a road trip from Kolkata for Amadpur Rajbari which is situated in Memari,Burdwan district of West Bengal,India. It was just 2 hours drive from Kolkata via National Highway-2.The place we stayed was a Heritage Homestay and by the same name. The property belongs to the Choudhury Zamindars. We booked our stay by contacting them through direct call and booked a family room costing INR 5.5K per night. Two bedroom rooms are also available at INR 3.5K per night. We booked just 2 days ahead of our trip. The property can also be booked for picnics too. The room rent includes breakfast. It was a vast expanse of property having mango gardens, small man made lakes heritage buildings and old temples.
Going by their history, they have received their Zamindari directly from the Mughals. A part of their property is being commercially used for boarders.
